So What Are Heat Pumps?

Heat pumps are a set of systems which transfer hot and cold temperatures by utilising the properties of liquids that boil at very low temeratures (refrigerants).

Each heat pump system consists of a set of two heat-exchanging coils, one inside the building and the other outside.
In the instance of ground-source the outer coil will be buried underground, and in the instance of air-source it will exist as a self-contained, fan-assisted unit located outside of the building.

The heat pumps function by pumping the refrigerant liquid through the area from which heat is to be transferred from, then once in a boiling state it is pumped through into the area which the heat is to be transferred to. The cycle then begins again with the refrigerant being compressed before being sent back out to the start point to absorb more heat. This is essentially the same process used by all common refrigeration, freezing, and air conditioning equipment execpt on a larger scale.

A heat pump system can be designed to meet your needs no matter how large or small your project. Our systems range from a single 4kW unit to multiple units producing around 300kW. Domestic hot water storage is also provided using 180 to 1000 litre pressurised vessels designed specifically for Heat Pumps.
